Blending Americana with electronics, Brooklyn, New York band Phonograph had its genesis in Matthew Welsh (vocals, keyboard, guitar) while working with Tony Maimone of Pere Ubu. Studio engineer John Davis (bass, synthesizer) joined Welsh, soon introducing him to Dave Burnett (drums) and Abe Seiferth (guitar). Phil Sterk (pedal steel, keyboard, guitars) completed the lineup in 2005:
